Just yesterday night, a friend shared with me a short film produced locally with the title 血鱼 The Bloody Fish. Loaded the video but didn’t have time to watch it then.

Anyways, i just finish watching the short film and i’m all excited that there’s such a good team in Malaysia.

Briefly did a search on the production team – D1 Production and found out they have a Facebook Page as well as a Blogspot Blog. Most of the videos on their Vimeo Channel are on weddings.

This short film started 3 years ago where Dick Chua, the director thought of writing a short story to shoot. He have lots of ideas but the whole short film didn’t really happen.

On a random occasion, Dick Chua shot the music video for Da.Mon.Ster 摩斯特 on the song Expired Rubbish 过期垃圾 and it all started from there.

Dick start to pay attention on various Music Videos and found out that there’s one music video which have some editing problem, this somehow inspired Dick Chua to write about the Bloody Fish. At the mean time, a Taiwan travelogue video that was shot quite long ago was discovered by Taiwan TV Station TVBS and Dick Chua went on an interview appearing on Taiwan National News.

Watching the making of The Bloody Fish as well as how they design one of the main shooting scene – The Kitchen makes me wonder that IF these peeps gets the support from government, how far could our local movie scene go…

People like Aniu 阿牛 陈庆祥 who scored big in the entertainment scene as a Director as well as Namewee 黃明志 who insisted for funds to shoot his own 1Malaysia film fight for the local movie industry in Malaysia. No offence but NO i’m not talking about those lame films like Cicak Man, Jangan Pandang Belakang & etc. I like KL Drift & erm Sepet!!

Anyways, these talents need to gain more support locally to proudly preach about the Malaysia Boleh spirit out of the Country! I believe that there are more hidden talents in Malaysia as i’ve watched a few local made videos thanks to the sharing on Facebook but do they really have hope in making it big?

Ah Sigh.

Bloody Fish.

By The Way, the short film The Bloody Fish got 60k views and this is just the 6th day the video was posted up on Vimeo. Go watch the video if you haven do so!
*Watch it on Tudou if you’re unable to load it on Vimeo.
**Dick Chua from Petaling Jaya, Malaysia is the founder of D1 Production and he studied at Vancouver Film School.
